Das Element <abstract> kommt sowohl in der Tektonik-EAD als auch in der Findbuch-EAD vor:
Tektonik-EAD:
<abstract> enthält auf <c level="class"> Erläuterungen zu einer Gliederungsstufe der Tektonik, auf <c level="series"> zu einer Bestandsserie oder auf <c level="file"> eine kurze Bestandsbeschreibung
Findbuch-EAD:
<abstract> enthält auf <c level="collection"> eine kurze Bestandsbeschreibung, auf <c level="class"> Erläuterungen zu einer Gliederungsstufe der Klassifikation des Bestandes, auf <c level="series"> Erläuterungen zu einer Serie, auf <c level="file"> den Enthältvermerk der Verzeichnungseinheit und auf <c level="item"> den Enthältvermerk eines Vorgangs. Durch das Attribut type kann der Enthältvermerk bei <c level="file"> und <c level="item"> z.B. als type="enthält u.a." zusätzlich gekennzeichnet werden.
